The only league-wide consensus about the 2025 NFL Draft quarterback class was that next year's group should be better. Should be - not necessarily "will be." NIL payments and a much easier transfer process have ended the days of being able to predict a year out who will belong to an upcoming draft class. Even so, the amount of prospective blue-chip QB talent is much higher than it was a year ago at this time. Things can of course change between now and the end of the college football season.

The 2025 NFL Draft class was pretty difficult to sort once you got beyond the top 10, and a number of very talented players fell down the board for one reason or another. Some (Shedeur Sanders) slid further than expected; others (Mason Taylor) only endured a slight wait. Either way, as always, there were steals to be had during draft weekend.

The Houston Texans and rookie wide receiver Jayden Higgins made history Thursday by agreeing to a fully guaranteed contract, the first-ever for a second-round NFL draft pick, according to multiple reports. The four-year deal will pay Higgins just more than $11.7 million. Houston drafted the Iowa State star with the 34th pick after he caught 87 passes for 1,183 yards and nine touchdowns for the Cyclones last season.

About 15 miles east of the Missouri River and 15 miles south of the North Dakota state line sits a town of fewer than 100 people. Mound City, S.D., is home to very little - a post office, a church, a bar and a county courthouse smaller than most of the barns in the area. It's also home to a row crop farm that's been in the same family for three generations, a place that's been kept afloat the last several years partly by the hands of one of football's most talented offensive linemen. Grey Zabel.

When it comes to undrafted free agents, one thing's for certain: There is always gold in those hills. As is the case nearly every season, several undrafted rookie free agents (UDFAs) made an impact on NFL teams in 2024. Carolina Panthers receiver Jalen Coker (Holy Cross) had 32 catches for 478 yards and two touchdowns. Los Angeles Rams linebacker Omar Speights (LSU) turned an outstanding preseason into an eventual starting role.

A 🧵Some personal news: After 25 years with Fox/Bally/Fan Duel Sports Network my position has been eliminated. The Detroit Tigers are going in a different direction with their broadcasts and regretfully I will no longer be a part of those productions. I’m not sure what’s next. I
