Ohio State will host Tennessee in the first round of the expanded college football playoffs at Ohio Stadium. The Buckeyes were awarded the eighth seed in the playoffs, while Tennessee is the ninth seed. This is the first year of the expanded 12-team college football playoffs, which features four first-round games on-campus games. The winners of the four on-campus games, which place on Friday, Dec. 20 and Saturday, Dec 21 will advance on to play on of the top four seeded teams in a bowl game.

Tuesday is Election Day, and WOSU is following along as Ohio votes for several key races including presidential, U.S. Senate, U.S. House races, and the Issue 1 redistricting constitutional amendment. The Associated Press provides the real-time vote tallies. The AP does not make projections and declared a winner in both ballot measures only when it was determined no scenario would allow the trailing side to close the gap.

On the second Sunday of October falls a lesser known, fun "holiday:" National Father-Daughter Day. We thought it was a great opportunity to check in with a father-daughter duo at UC Davis Health. John Anderson is a professor of surgery in the Division of Trauma, Acute Care and General Surgery. He has been with UC Davis Health since 1988. His daughter, Samantha Brown, did her emergency medicine residency here in 2019. She has been a faculty member since July 2023.

(SACRAMENTO) Falcon-eye viewers have been noticing the peregrine eggs disappearing over the last week, with the final egg now lying on the concrete as of Wednesday morning. As we’ve reported since last month, a pair of peregrine falcons are back to their nest atop UC Davis Medical Center for the sixth season. Their nest is located a safe distance from the hospital's busy helipad. Initially, there were four eggs. However, about seven days ago, an egg went missing.

Ohio State fired men's basketball coach Chris Holtmann on Wednesday. The move comes one day after Ohio State's ninth defeat in the last 11 games, which will likely cause them to miss the NCAA tournament for the second straight season. Holtmann was in his seventh season as the Buckeyes' coach and had a record of 137-84. The Buckeyes have a 14-10 record this season, but are only 4-10 in Big Ten play.
