Petco Park- San Diego, CAThe Padres arrived back in San Diego after a grueling nine-game, three-city road trip. They faced an Angels team that had lost six of their last 10. In his career, Michael King took the mound for San Diego, who owns a 2.80 ERA in 19 starts at Petco Park. That drops to 1.32 in the five starts he has made this year alone. The Angels countered with veteran lefty Yusei Kikuchi. Kikuchi and King traded scoreless frames until the third.

Nick Turchiaro-Imagn Images BYU Baseball doesn’t get the same coverage and recognition as the football and basketball teams on campus. Certainly, a few all-timers have come through Provo and donned the Y for the baseball team and made a huge impact in the sport. Players like Dale Murphy, Wally Joyner, Jack Morris, and Rick Aguilera all attended BYU and went on to All-Star and even Hall of Fame careers in Major League Baseball. Padres manager Mike Shildt deserves a lot of credit for the success of the San Diego Padres over the last year-plus. You’ve heard about “The Cardinal Way.” The Moneyball A’s. Usually, if schools can find a way to thrive in both, they’re set financially for years to come. It also brings in the most eyeballs of any other college athletics combined. Since joining the Big 12, BYU has taken their opportunity for more exposure and revenue and ran with it. BYU is thriving.

Petco Park- San Diego, CAAfter snapping a four-game losing streak by beating the Giants on Tuesday, the Padres sought the two-game sweep of San Francisco on Wednesday afternoon. Michael King looked to continue the good momentum Nick Pivetta created for Padres starters the day before. The Giants came at the Padres’ lineup with 26-year-old Landen Roupp. Just like Tuesday’s game, the Padres got started early. In the bottom of the second, Tyler Wade singled home a run to open the scoring.
