ED TUDOR POLE – THE CON CLUB, LEWES 9.5.25I’ve been following Ed Tudor Pole on social media these past few years since the good old lockdowns when the YouTube algorithm kindly sent me in the direction of those early Tenpole Tudor albums. Up until that point I must admit my only knowledge of him was his awesome stint as the host on the TV game show ‘The Crystal Maze’, something I still enjoy watching repeats of to this very day.

CLT DRP + ELLIS.D + BIG LONG SUN – THE OLD BLUE LAST, SHOREDITCH, LONDON 7.5.25Tonight is the London launch gig for The Great Escape festival which will take place in Brighton next week. Therefore all of the bands appearing tonight are either from Brighton or are Brighton based. Headliners are CLT DRP, but before they appear there are two very interesting support bands to entertain us.

Vision Video hail from Athens, Georgia, in the USA and are labelled as a goth rock post-punk outfit, who are influenced by among others The Cure, The Chameleons and Joy Division, blended with sharper edges inspired by The Clash and The Replacements. The band have thus far dropped a trio of albums: ‘Inked In Red’ (2021), ‘Haunted Hours’ (2022) and ‘Modern Horror’ (2024), and their ‘In My Side’ EP came out in 2020.

FLAT PARTY + BLACK BORDELLO + COWZ + SKI LIFT – THE HOPE & RUIN, BRIGHTON 7.5.25The Hidden Herd monthly new music discovery nights certainly do shine the spotlight on some of the most exciting emerging artists around at the moment. There’s always a blend of ones-to-watch and hidden gems on offer and this month’s edition at The Hope & Ruin on Queens Road in Brighton didn’t buck the trend. We were rewarded with a quartet of differing musical styles from Flat Party, Black Bordello, COWZ and Ski Lift.

Synth Overlord Gary Numan has only gone and done it again! Throughout his whole musical career he has very rarely performed a trio of concerts on consecutive days at the very same venue. As far as my memory serves me there were the legendary “retirement” concerts at Wembley Arena on 26th, 27th & 28th April 1981 and then more recently his 998, 999 and 1000th live shows which happened at Electric Ballroom on Camden High Street in London on 13th, 14th and 15th April 2023.
