INDIANAPOLIS — A proposal to allocate $300,000 to cover final invoices from law firm Fisher Phillips passed out of committee Tuesday evening. The meeting was meant to provide a space for survivors of sexual harassment and their advocates to speak directly to the council. This stems from many feeling their voices weren't heard during last week's heated meeting when law enforcement forcibly removed ex-Hogsett staffer Lauren Roberts from the chambers.

NOBLESVILLE — Money can be tight in the summertime, especially for families who are just trying to put food on the table. Volunteers at Grace Care Center are stepping in to help. Grace Care Center’s Choice Food Pantry is the largest food pantry in Hamilton County. It offers more than your traditional food pantry — fresh produce, meats, dairy and eggs. “We operate like a grocery store. Everything here is choice based," Executive Director Cara Augspurger said. The need has grown since the pandemic.

When they graduate, they don’t have that immediate support right there.

INDIANAPOLIS — Indy Pride Celebration on the Circle is this Saturday. The first Celebration on the Circle was held in 1990. A day meant for love and acceptance was met with opposition. “Hate. Just hate. Saying terrible things about us that weren’t true," Don Hartstern said. Chuck Daube recalls similar push-back from anti-gay protesters in 1991. “There was a group of people who were protesting the Pride event and they were screaming. They had signs saying ‘God hates fags,’" Daube said.

INDIANAPOLIS — If you look in any direction on Massachusetts Avenue, you’ll see rainbow flags lining the streets. “Proudly, proudly show that,” The Ball & Biscuit bartender Damon Richards said. “Especially at a time like today, we want to have solidarity. Hand in hand. Arm in arm. Be with the people we want to put our faith into.”The kickoff to Indy Pride Weekend is the parade this Saturday. Richards says it's usually an early start.
