We asked the Globe’s football cognoscenti to weigh in on what the Patriots should do and predict what they will do when they are on the clock with the No. 4 pick in Thursday night’s NFL Draft. What the Patriots should do: Pounce if the Giants do something stupid. It appears as though the Giants will do the obvious and take Penn State edge-rushing maniac Abdul Carter at No. 3, presuming Cam Ward and Travis Hunter go 1-2.

FOXBOROUGH — With a little more than a week to go until the first round of the NFL Draft, Patriots coach Mike Vrabel said Tuesday his team is still reviewing all possibilities. The Patriots hold the fourth overall pick, behind Tennessee at No. 1, Cleveland at No. 2, and the New York Giants at No. 3. Players expected to go at the top of the draft include Miami’s Cam Ward, Colorado’s Travis Hunter and Shedeur Sanders, and Penn State’s Abdul Carter.

FOXBOROUGH — When the Titans cut Harold Landry in March, he already had an idea where he wanted to play. The Patriots had hired Mike Vrabel, Landry’s coach of six seasons in Tennessee, which instantly made New England an attractive destination for the 28-year-old linebacker. Vrabel, who was in his first year on staff when the Titans drafted Landry in the second round in 2018, had played a pivotal role in his development as an effective edge rusher.

PALM BEACH, Fla. — When Dan Campbell finished his NFL playing career after the 2009 season, he already knew he wanted to make the jump to coaching. He decided to call Norwood native Mike Sherman, then the coach at Campbell’s alma mater, Texas A&M, to learn a bit more about the transition. Sherman invited Campbell to join his staff for a few weeks of spring practice, a chance to learn from A&M’s coaches. Among those to make an immediate impression: Terrell Williams.
