At 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 21, Mosab Hassan Yousef, the son of one of the founders of Hamas, addressed a crowd of 350 in McCosh 10. Yousef, a brash, outspoken supporter of Israel, rejected the idea of Palestinian ethnicity, stating that the notion was “psychological” and rooted in “a narrative of victimhood.” Yousef was greeted with raucous applause. “Many people mix between Arab and Palestinian, and within the Palestinian is indoctrination.

The third bargaining session between the Princeton University Postdocs and Scholars-United Auto Workers (PUPS-UAW) union and the University, held on Tuesday, Dec. 3 in the Louis A. Simpson International Building, saw marginal negotiating progress. Most of the three-hour meeting focused on disagreements between PUPS-UAW and the University on ground rules for bargaining, including disagreements over the number of observers — an issue from previous sessions.

On Tuesday, Nov. 12, the members of the Princeton University Postdocs and Scholars-United Auto Workers (PUPS-UAW) union attempted to have their second bargaining session with the representatives from the University. However, in a series of events reminiscent of last week’s bargaining session, negotiations halted after new disputes on whether observers would be allowed to attend the negotiations.

In a public lecture given on the evening of Tuesday, Oct. 22, Angela Davis reflected on the importance of voting in elections, solidarity and support for Palestine, and her end goal of revolution. The 445 seats in McCosh Hall 50 were not enough to hold the large turnout, with dozens standing against the walls and lining the stairs to hear Davis in conversation with Professor of African American Studies Keeanga-Yamahtta Taylor.

Several pro-Palestine student organizations held sparsely attended demonstrations on campus on the days leading up to Monday, Oct. 7, which marks one year since Hamas’s attacks on Israel and the subsequent war in Gaza. About 15 people gathered in Firestone Plaza on the early afternoon of Oct. 7 to paint a large banner reading, “Glory to the martyrs, glory to the resistance” and read aloud the names and ages of Palestinian children killed by the Israeli military in the past year.
