RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC-TV) — Hopewell native and former Hopewell Blue Devil TreyVeon Henderson of Ohio State was drafted in the second round, 38th overall to the New England Patriots. Henderson was the 4th running back to come off the draft board and will be heading to New England to play for Mike Vrabel. Henderson, who graduated from Hopewell High School, rushed for over 4,000 yards and 50 touchdowns during his high school career and was named the Virginia Gatorade Football Player of the Year.

He will also take the role of Assistant AD effective July 1, 2025. White brings an impressive resume to Petersburg, having led John Marshall for 15 seasons. During his tenure, he amassed over 300 career wins and captured seven state championships — including an extraordinary four straight titles from 2022 to 2025.

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — The Richmond Flying Squirrels broke out of a slump with a big 10-0 win over the Chesapeake Baysox on Friday night at The Diamond for their third win of the year. The win ended a five-game losing streak for Richmond and was their first home win of the year. Pitcher Manuel Mercedes had a strong outing, throwing 5.2 scoreless innings. Nick Sinacola finished the game, keeping the shutout going. Richmond got off to a fast start, scoring four runs in the first inning.

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — The Richmond Flying Squirrels lost to the Chesapeake Baysox, 4-3, on Thursday night at The Diamond. The game also marked the 40th anniversary of The Diamond’s first game back on April 17, 1985. It was Richmond’s fourth one-run loss of the season, and their third straight loss to the Baysox in the series. Chesapeake scored first in the opening inning.
