(WRIC) — Virginia Union University announced it will honor eight individuals and the 1992 Men’s Basketball Team by inducting them into the Thomas “Tricky Tom” Harris Athletic Hall of Fame on Friday, September 19, 2025. The 2025 Hall of Fame class includes: Malcolm Barnwell – Former NFL wide receiver who played five seasons with the Redskins, Saints, and Raiders. His best year was 1984, with 45 catches for 851 yards and 2 touchdowns.

(WRIC) — Construction on Richmond’s new CarMax Park is moving full speed ahead and remains on schedule, with just seven months to go before it becomes the new home of the Flying Squirrels. The ballpark, rising quickly along Arthur Ashe Boulevard, has now entered a new phase, shifting from foundational work to roofing and window installation. “We are on schedule with what we projected,” said senior project manager Patrick Albrecht. “We were mowing grass in August of last year.

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — The Savannah Bananas organization is in Richmond this weekend for games on both Friday and Saturday. The weekend is highlighted by the Fire Fighters headlining their first-ever game as they take on the Texas Tailgaters for two games at the Diamond. The games mark the first time that the Savannah Bananas have ever played in Richmond and 8Sports Director Nolan Knight grabbed his glove to see if he could pull out some of the trick plays that Banana Ball is best known for.

(WRIC) — Former St. Christopher’s standout athlete Walker Wallace won a lacrosse national championship with Cornell in May and now the Richmond native will be transferring to the University of Virginia to play Tight End for Tony Elliot and the Cavaliers. “It was everything that I could have hoped for, that moment where we finally won and everyone stormed the field. It was something that you dream about as a lacrosse player, and it really felt surreal,” said Walker Wallace.
