Blood is thicker than pancake syrup. It is a lesson the Eller family, longtime proprietors of the popular Helena eatery No Sweat Cafe, knows all too well. The breakfast and lunch restaurant celebrated its 40th anniversary in January and in February, ownership was passed on to the third member of the Eller family, Micah Eller. "I have great faith in her," said Debi Corcoran, founder of both the No Sweat Cafe and Eller.

Frustration regarding Helena's lack of an emergency shelter boiled over during the city commission's administration meeting recently. Good Samaritan Ministries Executive Director Theresa Ortega told the commission last week that a recent bid to open a 26-bed emergency women's shelter dubbed Ruth's Place was snuffed out when the proposed site of the shelter was purchased in January. "We have gone through all the steps of this," Ortega said.

A 27-year-old Helena woman was struck and killed by a vehicle Sunday driven by her husband, officials said Tuesday. Lewis and Clark County Sheriff and Coroner Leo Dutton said deputies responded to the intersection of Canyon Ferry Drive and Custer Avenue about 9:30 p.m. Sunday to "what was initially reported as a vehicle versus pedestrian accident."Jessica Lee St. Clair was pronounced dead on the scene.
