Bozeman city commissioners this week threw their support behind an idea to create a city program to provide tenants facing eviction with lawyers. Bozeman Tenants United is pushing for the program. During a work session to discuss the idea Tuesday, four commissioners said they support moving forward.

Erin George, the city’s director of community development, said during a commission meeting last week that her department is often asked for data on the number of new residential units approved or building permits issued. For years, the city’s software made compiling the data a time-consuming and difficult task.
