Hundreds of pro-Palestinian, anti-war protestors set up an encampment on the grounds of USC’s Alumni Park in the early hours of April 24, calling for the university to divest from companies linked to Israel and end partnerships with Hebrew University’s Rothenberg International School and Reichman University. Among the crowd, a father stood separated from his daughter, a student at USC. He wore a keffiyeh and showed unwavering support for his daughter and the anti-war movement.

The USC community will celebrate the 50th-anniversary of the Latino Alumni Association with a gala at Warner Brothers Studio with family and friends on Saturday, March 2. The event will honor alumni and scholars for bother leadership, as well as community service in remembrance of every scholar’s many years at USC.

Latino alumni crowded at USC’s Alumni Park before Saturday, Nov. 4 homecoming day. The members ate enchiladas, carnitas tacos and drank mojitos, reminiscing on the years of attending USC as a scholar for the Latino Alumni Association. “As a student, our job focused on creating programming to help with college retention and improve the graduation rate for Latino alumni,” said Maxine Enciso, an LAA Scholar and alumnus from the class of 1996.

Climate change is still one of the most issues in the world, though reporting on such issues can be difficult for journalists to cover. A study released on Monday found that temperatures are increasing and heat waves are becoming “more frequent, intense, and longer-lasting due to climate change.” With climate change deniers and skeptics on environmental issues occupying both the political and social space, reporters must be smart in covering these kinds of topics.

More than 75,000 health workers across the country are set to protest Wednesday after Kaiser Permanente and unions weren’t able to meet an agreement by Sept. 30. On Saturday, the workers’ contract with Kaiser Permanente ended, and the nonprofit wasn’t able to meet the needs of the Coalition of Kaiser Permanente Unions, which include better pay, staffing and benefits.
