SAN FRANCISCO - San Francisco authorities arrested dozens throughout the city in a single day in an effort to disrupt the drug market and narcotics sales in the city. FREMONT, Calif. - The Fremont Police Department is putting residents on alert after a dead bat tested positive for rabies near a home in the Niles neighborhood. The bat was found Tuesday near a residence on De Salle Avenue. The Alameda County Vector Control responded and brought the bat in for testing. The Alameda County Department of Public Health confirmed the bat was diseased with rabies.

Police investigating homicide near Oakland school

OAKLAND, Calif. - A person was shot and killed near a school in Oakland Friday afternoon, police said. Police said officers arrived at the 8100 block of Fontaine Street near an Oak Grove school around 12:45 p.m. over reports of a shooting. At the scene, they found an adult with gunshot wounds inside a car. Despite life-saving efforts, the person died at the scene. Oakland police officers are investigating the shooting as a homicide.

Two 17-year-old boys in Santa Clara County were arrested on suspicion of human trafficking two teenage girls, San Jose police said Thursday. Because the suspects are minors, officials did not identify them. One suspect is from Morgan Hill, and the other is from San Martin, according to police. The backstory: Authorities identified the two teens as suspects in human trafficking following a separate battery investigation back in November 2024.

The driver of the Bobcat trailer was arrested on DUI allegations PETALUMA, Calif. - A 3-year-old child was killed when they were struck by a Bobcat trailer on a private property in Petaluma Sunday afternoon, according to the California Highway Patrol. The operator was arrested for felony driving under the influence and manslaughter, the CHP said.
