Epilepsy is one of the most common serious brain diseases, affecting 70 million individuals worldwide.1–3 Epidemiological studies consistently indicate that people with epilepsy have a higher prevalence of cardiac comorbidities than the general population.4,5 Over the past decades, the fundamental pathophysiology of the heart–brain axis has been elucidated, expanding our understanding of the subtle effects of epilepsy on the cardiovascular system.
