BULAWAYO, Apr.2 (NewsDayLive) - The National Railways of Zimbabwe (NRZ) says it is seeking partners to help set up a state-of-the-art concrete sleeper manufacturing plant to produce sleepers for local use and sale to the region. According to the NRZ, the plant will play a crucial role in refurbishing and maintaining the country's existing railway tracks, while also facilitating the development of new routes to better serve customers.

KARIBA, Mar.24 (NewsDayLive)- A 54-year-old Kariba woman has been fined US$150 for leaving her firearm unsecured, leading to her domestic being accidentally shot. Charlene Geddes was convicted on her own plea of guilty to contravening the Firearms Act when she appeared before magistrate Simon Kandiero. The court heard that on March 17, 2025, Geddes placed her CZ Vzor pistol under her mattress, loaded with five rounds, and retired to bed.

HARARE, March 12, (NewsDay Live) - One person is feared dead after a boat capsized on Lake Kariba last night. The fishermen's vessel, believed to be carrying two people, was hit by a fierce storm while en route to Kariba urban. Saul Matsvaire, a fisherman operating at Lake Kariba, said the two were coming from local fishing camps when the incident happened. "It's sad that we continue losing lives from water-related accidents," said Matsvaire.

THE Law Development Commission (LDC) has condemned the practice of relatives demanding cash, stock and other valuables from their son-in-law as a condition for burying their deceased daughter. Speaking during a public legal awareness campaign on the Marriages Act [Chapter 5:17] in Kariba yesterday, Rex Shana, the deputy chairperson of the commission, emphasised that this practice is illegal.
