Streator police are seeking information on an attempted child abduction reported at 5:10 p.m. Wednesday at Illinois and Livingston streets. In a press release, Streator police said officers met with an adult complainant and a 10-year-old juvenile, who provided the following information: The juvenile was walking in this area and approached by a subject driving a black two-door truck with tinted windows.

The Illinois Valley Youth Choir will be hosting a public concert 4 p.m. Sunday, April 28. The concert will be in the Matthiessen Auditorium at La Salle-Peru High School, 541 Chartres St., La Salle. Tickets are $5 for adults, $4 for seniors/kindergarten through 12th grade students, pre-kindergarten and younger are free. The auditorium is handicapped accessible. There will be a cookie reception following the performance.

DeKALB – Area residents looking to help provide school supplies for DeKalb students in need are invited to contribute to a Stuff the Bus drive which kicks off Aug. 11. Kishwaukee United Way will partner with Transdev to host a Stuff the Bus drive to collect school supplies for the 2023-24 school year. The drive will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. Aug. 11, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 12, and from noon to 4 p.m. Aug. 13 in the Walmart parking lot, 2300 Sycamore Road, DeKalb, according to a news release.

Clarke vehicles will spray a mosquito control application throughout Geneva and St. Charles Wednesday evening. Spraying is scheduled form dusk to dawn July 26 into July 27. The Kane County Health Department announced a mosquito surveillance trap tested positive for the West Nile virus on July 17 in Batavia. Clarke will be using a synthetic treatment that is safe for humans and pets.
