Following the deaths of four McHenry County jail inmates since July – including three since Nov. 21 and two this week – the sheriff’s office released a statement Thursday saying the office has been “fully transparent” and has handled the cases in compliance with policies and state laws. The office “faithfully serves the community, promoting the safety and equal protection of all,” the statement said.

The father of a boy who was killed in Plainfield Township in October has requested to become the special administrator of the child’s estate in a wrongful death lawsuit case, although it is not known if his ex-wife and the boy’s mother plans to pursue her own legal action. On Nov. 30, Odai Alfayoumi, the father of Wadea Alfayoumi, 6, petitioned for the appointment as special administrator of his son’s estate in a wrongful death lawsuit case against Joseph Czuba, 71.

La Salle County might not get a morgue, after all. Thursday, La Salle County Coroner Rich Ploch advised the La Salle County Public Safety Committee he is shelving plans reluctantly to expand the county’s forensic center in Oglesby into a full-service morgue, including an autopsy suite.
