    From KUT News:Tens of thousands of low-income residents in Central Texas could lose access to Medicaid, marketplace health insurance or food benefits if the Senate passes President Trump’s “One Big Beautiful Bill Act” as is. The budget reconciliation bill would advance many elements of Trump’s domestic policy agenda. It includes new restrictions on Medicaid that the bill’s supporters say will cut down on waste and fraud.

    From KUT News:After more than three years under a near-total abortion ban, Texas’ 89th legislative session brought forth discussions about the ways Texans continue to access the highly restricted procedure. Dozens of bills relating to the topic of abortion were filed, but three ultimately gained traction and led to substantial discussion in the House and Senate.

    A federal investigation found that Ascension Seton Williamson Hospital broke the law by failing to give a woman timely medical care for an emergency pregnancy condition. Kyleigh Thurman filed a complaint against the hospital in August after seeking care for an ectopic pregnancy — when a fertilized egg implants somewhere outside the uterus. Ectopic pregnancies cannot be brought to term and are life-threatening when not treated early.
