GREEN RIVER — The Green River City Council unanimously approved a consulting contract with Denver-based company Adelska for Flaming Gorge Days, while a local committee will be heading up the event. At the Jan. 7 meeting, a previous version of a contract with Adelska failed to pass, and the Council scheduled a workshop to further discuss Flaming Gorge Days and Adelska’s involvement in the event.

GREEN RIVER — Sweetwater County School District No. 2 Superintendent Craig Barringer officially announced his resignation to the Board of Trustees Tuesday night, and the board made its first action to start the search for his replacement. In an executive session at the start of the meeting, the board discussed Barringer’s retirement and decided to have the Wyoming School Board Association aid in conducting the search for the next superintendent. Barringer will retire in June.

GREEN RIVER — The Sweetwater County School District No. 2 Board of Trustees will host its meeting with an early start time Tuesday to allow for an executive session at the start of the meeting. The meeting will commence at 5:15 p.m., starting with an executive session for personnel purposes. Superintendent Craig Barringer spoke to SweetwaterNOW last week, confirming that he will be retiring in June after his contract ends. GREEN RIVER — After coming to Sweetwater County School District No. 2 in 2020, Craig Barringer is retiring from his position as superintendent. Barringer will be retiring at the end of his contract, which is June 30, 2025. GR Rec Center Employees Recognized for Life Saving Efforts

GREEN RIVER — Three Green River Recreation Center employees were recognized for their efforts that saved the life a 75-year-old patron at the rec center recently. Leisure Programs Division instructor Ranae Price and Recreation Division staff member Jordan Andersen recently rescued the patron who experienced a medical emergency that resulted in loss of consciousness while in the pool’s deep end during a morning water aerobics class.
Council Members Take Oath of Office; Flaming Gorge Days Contract Fails Vote

GREEN RIVER — A contract between the City of Green River and Adelska, LLC, for the Flaming Gorge Days concert failed at the Green River City Council meeting Tuesday night due to a lack of a second on the motion, and three council members took the Oath of Office. Council Members Robert Berg, Sherry Bushman, and the newly elected Jessica Maser took the Oath of Office Tuesday night. Former Council Member George Jost was also honored for his 20 years of service to the City of Green River.
