ROCK SPRINGS – An emergency sewer line repair project was approved by the Western Wyoming Community College Board of Trustees Thursday night. The project will address a critical failure in the basement sewer line involving deteriorated cast iron piping. Chris Dever, director of physical resources for the college, said the issue resulted in the grease trap beneath the T-Rex Grill leaking and caused wastewater to seep into the basement area.

ROCK SPRINGS – School districts involved in the December 2024 PowerSchool data breach have reportedly been contacted by someone allegedly attempting to extort them by claiming to have data from the breach. An update posted to ParentSquare from Sweetwater County School District No. 1 Chief information Officer Stephanie Tolman Thursday evening states school districts have been contacted and PowerSchool doesn’t believe it is a new incident.

GREEN RIVER – Isabelle Murdock will transition to cross country at the collegiate level after signing a letter of intent to run for Central Wyoming College in Riverton. Murdock signed the letter Thursday at Green River High School, surrounded by family, friends, and coaches. Murdock said she chose Central Wyoming because the college is close to home and allows her to continue running.

ROCK SPRINGS – Western Wyoming Community College will honor a newly-minted group of nurses and its 2025 graduates Friday. The nurses pinning ceremony takes place at 1 p.m. Friday in the college’s theater, while the commencement ceremony begins at 5 p.m. at Rushmore Gymnasium. Mikayla Wonnacott, the public relations specialist for Western, said 28 nursing graduates will receive their pins Friday afternoon. Brianna Leibee will serve as the mistress of ceremony.
