Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, yesterday directed the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) to commence the process for the disbursement of the Cabotage Vessel Financing Fund (CVFF), which could see indigenous ship owners accessing more than $400 million in strategic funding. NIMASA, in alignment with the minister’s directive, has immediately issued a Marine Notice inviting eligible Nigerian shipping companies to apply.

LASWA confirms 19 passengers on board LagFerry boat rescuedNine passengers and rescuers yesterday morning sustained injuries after a Lagos Ferry (LagFerry) boat went up in flames at the Ipakodo Jetty in Ikorodu. The boat, which was loaded and set for Victoria Island, caught fire after a bang inside it about 6:45am. The sound caused pandemonium as passengers scampered to safety with some jumping into the water.
