Over the first nine races of the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour season, Patrick Emerling represented the driver who seemed to be on the verge of victory more than any non-winner. That all changed on Aug. 14 at Thompson Speedway when Emerling scored his first win of the season at Thompson Speedway and the first victory for the first-year Rich Gautreau owned No. 1 team. Now it seems the Orchard Park, N.Y. driver doesn’t want to say goodbye to victory lane.

With the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour season down to the final six events, Justin Bonsignore and the Kenneth Massa Motorsports team will head to Oswego Speedway this Saturday night. Race 11 of the season brings the team to New York, as the Whelen Modified Tour will run 150 laps as part of the Bud Classic weekend.

As last minute fill-in drivers go, Boehler Racing Enterprises found one that should definitely turns heads this weekend at Oswego Speedway. Bobby Santos III will drive Ole Blue for BRE in the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour Toyota Modified Classic 150 Saturday at Oswego (N.Y.) Speedway. “I talked to [team owner Michael Boehler] this morning and it sounded like they needed a driver and it just worked out to do that,” Santos told RaceDayCT.

With just six races left in the 2024 NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour season, the series travels to historic Oswego Speedway this Saturday for the running of the Toyota Mod Classic 150 (8 p.m. ET on FloRacing). Oswego Speedway, located in Oswego, New York, first welcomed the Modified Tour during the 1988 season. That year, Brian Ross won not once, but twice at the legendary Steel Palace.

Three and a half months ago all looked encouraging on the Whelen Modified Tour for Jake Johnson and his Boehler Racing Enterprises team. On May 4 at Monadnock Speedway Johnson scored victory in the Granite State Derby at Monadnock Speedway to secure his first Whelen Modified Tour win. It also marked the first series victory for Boehler Racing Enterprises and their iconic Ole Blue No. 3 ride since April 2017. Now, six races since that win, Johnson is stepping away from the iconic ride.
