    Matt Hirschman’s streak of absolute domination in NASCAR Modified Tour events at Seekonk Speedway continued Sunday. Hirschman led the way in practice, led the way in qualifying, dominated during the event and then held on through a dramatic green-white-checkered closing to win the J&R Precast 150 Sunday at Seekonk. It was Hirschman’s third consecutive NASCAR Modified Tour victory at Seekonk. He also won the pole for each race before winning the series events at the track in 2023 and 2024.

    STAFFORD – In January Keith Rocco turned 40 years old. It’s fair to say the Wallingford driver had long ago cemented his place as a legend in Connecticut short track racing. But with just a single SK Modified victory at Stafford Speedway in 2024 there were some around the track wondering if the legend of the division was starting to fade. Rocco was hearing the whispers of those questioning his ability to be consistently competitive, and he he actually understood why.

    STAFFORD – Last year at Stafford Speedway Tyler Chapman rolled to a dominant championship run in the SK Light Modified division. Chapman recorded 10 victories on the way to that title. And Chapman’s last victory of the season on Sept. 28, 2024 tied him with Chris Matthews at the top of the division’s all-time win list with 22 wins. Friday at Stafford the 46-year Matthews grabbed back sole possession of the top of that all-time win list.

    STAFFORD – After finishes of 15th and 14th place in the first two events of the season, Limited Late Model division veteran R.J. Surdell was entertaining thoughts of taking a break from competition. A pep talk from his father changed those thoughts and Friday the Willington driver made the best of his decision to keep going.

    STAFFORD – Late Model division veteran Wayne Coury Jr. went winless at Stafford Speedway in 2024. Friday at Stafford the Milford driver made up for that winless season with a performance that was purely dominating. Coury went to the lead on the first lap and went unchallenged the rest of the way in winning the 30-lap Late Model feature Friday at Stafford. It was the first victory for Coury since Aug. 18, 2023.
