THERE are few psychological thrillers that have the ability to keep their creepy claws dug into your mind well after you’ve finished them. BioShock, Heavy Rain, Dead Space, Alan Wake, FEAR are some that jump out. But now there’s a newbie leaping from the shadows to instil fear in every step you take. Karma: The Dark World is a debut title from indie developer Pollard Studio - coming out of nowhere to scare the living daylights out of you.

AT last, the Switching hour is upon us. Yes, Nintendo’s heavenly handheld returns and, like Mario after munching a Super Mushroom, it’s bigger and better than before. After a first hands-on play with the new device, I can confirm the long-awaited Switch 2 pushes all the right buttons. PUT simply, Cookie Cutter: Overkill Edition is bloody brilliant. Indeed you can’t escape the blood. It’s absolutely everywhere. Because from an overly-gruesome opening scene, it soon becomes apparent that this beautifully butchering beat ’em up pulls zero punches. It’s Kill Bill meets Earthworm Jim - with a splattering of Hollow Knight thrown in for good measure. You play crazy Cherry, a psychotic android waitress who is out for bloody revenge after her love is taken from her by the evil Infonet.

WHEN you first stagger out of a dark bunker into the world of Atomfall all dazed and confused, you’d be forgiven for thinking you’re actually off on a lovely stroll through the English countryside. There are lush green fields, woodlands, birds chirping, fresh air, cobbled streets . . . and, of course, a classic red telephone box randomly plonked on the pathway in front of you. All that’s missing are some fish & chips, cream tea, a nice long queue, and a cuppa (actually, that one does pop up later).
