    Seven people have been taken to hospital after taking the sleeping medication Zopiclone, prompting concerns over a “potential contaminated batch”. Cleveland Police said it had received reports on Friday of the adults being taken to North Tees General Hospital in Stockton-on-Tees, County Durham. The force is also investigating the death of one man thought to have taken Zopiclone.

    Many of the most seriously injured people on a turbulence-hit flight on which a British man died need spinal operations, a hospital said. A spokesman for Samitivej Srinakarin Hospital in Bangkok said six Britons are among 20 people still in intensive care. The hospital has provided medical care to a total of 104 people who were on the Singapore Airlines flight from Heathrow to Singapore which diverted to the Thai capital.

    A dog owner has been mauled to death by her two registered XL bullies in the latest tragedy involving the banned breed. The woman, aged in her 50s, was fatally attacked in Cornwall Close, Hornchurch, east London, just after 1pm on Monday. Photographs showed a blue forensic tent that had been put up outside her home in the small residential street. Police said she was pronounced dead at the scene and the two registered dogs were seized after being contained in a room.

    A teacher has been found guilty of having sex with two schoolboys. Rebecca Joynes, 30, groomed the youngsters from the age of 15, Manchester Crown Court heard, and was on bail for sexual activity with the first child, boy A, when she began having sex with the second, boy B, who she went on to become pregnant by - revealing the news in a bizarre game. Neither teen must be identified.
