Tributes have been pouring in following the death of a hugely popular maverick who influenced generations of Merseyside music fans. Geoff Davies, who co-launched Liverpool's legendary record shop Probe with his first wife, Annie, in 1971, died on Tuesday morning in Kingswood Mount Care Home, Allerton. He was 80. His second wife, Anne, told the ECHO: "Geoff was diagnosed with dementia in 2019, but was able to carry on living at our home by Sefton Park until the end of April this year.

A lost Merseyside pub that "always had a reputation" was said to have been a "criminals' sanctuary" in its day.
