On Wednesday, staff at Brentwood Cafés in Tesco Wexford Town, Tullamore Co Offaly, Ardkeen Co Waterford, Clonmel Co Tipperary and Youghal Co Cork turned up for work as normal, only to find out that the coffee shops were closed up and they were being refused entry. “The staff worked as normal on Monday and Tuesday,” Brentwood Coffee owner and manager Anna Kurcon said.

Residents of a Rosslare Harbour housing estate awoke to a strong garda presence on Friday morning, as they responded to an apparent stabbing incident. A woman aged in her 50s was rushed to Wexford General Hospital with what gardaí describe as “serious” injuries shortly after 7 a.m. There was a strong garda response and paramedics from the National Ambulance Service also rushed to the scene at Brendan’s Estate, while residents made their way to work.

Once again, parents are being warned to take care with their children in open spaces around Wexford town, after a nine-year-old boy discovered a bag of used syringes while playing. The boy was playing on his scooter when he called his father and pointed out the bag, discarded in a ditch at the side of the path in Westgate Park, in the shadow of the historic town wall. "We were coming back home from a walk on the quay with the dog and he saw it,” the father said.
