THERE was great sadness felt around the Enniscorthy area following the passing of Christina ‘Tilly’ Dobbs (nee: Murphy), of Bellefield Drive, Cherryorchard, Enniscorthy. Born on October 7, 1930, Tilly, as she was more commonly known by everyone who knew her, passed away peacefully in her 93rd year on Tuesday, July 4.

THERE was great sadness felt throughout the community in Gorey and also in Coventry, in the UK, following the recent passing of John O’Brien, Meadowgate, Gorey, and late of Garden City, Gorey. One of the most respected members of the community John was a devoted family man who alongside his wife of 65 years, Sheila, created loving homes in Coventry and in Gorey.

That’s exactly what Amy and Cathal Walsh, from Enniscorthy succeeded in doing this year, although neither are strangers to success on the sports field. Amy and Cathal, both played underage for Monageer – Boolavogue GAA club and Amy is now playing her club football with St Brigid’s Blackwater. She is also one of the starting 15 for the Wexford Intermediate Women’s football team who are through to the all-Ireland semi-final which is due to take place on Sunday, July 23.

THIS year’s Hope & Dream10 fundraiser for the Hope Cancer Support Centre in Enniscorthy raised almost €129,000. The organisers were overwhelmed by the level of support the event received with it raising a total of €128,918. Race coordinator, Michael Jordan, expressed delight at the amount raised which exceeded last year’s figure by almost €30,000.
