Governor Stitt has started signing bills as they come to his desk. While he has already signed many into law, he has vetoed more than a dozen. Some of the vetoes have caused disappointment to some lawmakers. A bill to expand access to diagnostic mammograms is one of the bills the Governor did not sign.

Former Oklahoma Attorney General Mike Hunter announced a legal challenge against the Oklahoma State Board of Education targeting the process in which the new social studies standards were passed. Hunter said the board did not follow its own internal rules and procedures and there was no due process. He said the suit challenges the legitimacy of the board's adoption of the standards on this basis. "Simply put, the State Board broke its own rules and ignored due process," he said.

An Oklahoma bill to prohibit public colleges and universities from using state funds to promote diversity, equity and inclusion efforts cleared the House on Tuesday. Republicans debated for the measure, while Democrats debated against. "However it may have started, whatever the intent, what has happened is it's caused an us versus them attitude," House author of the bill State Rep. Denise Crosswhite-Hader (R-Piedmont) said.

A select committee is trying to make sense of exactly what the agency needs to make sure its employees don't go without a paycheck, plus trying to nail down other ongoing budget concerns.

Lawmakers on a select committee are set to meet with the Oklahoma Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services Commissioner on Monday morning. This comes as lawmakers were made aware on May 2 that the agency wasn't going to be able to make payroll and was short $23 million. Lawmakers have already been looking into the agency's finances for the last several weeks as ODMHSAS faces a budget shortfall for FY25.
