A tractor-trailer driver escaped serious injury Wednesday when the rig collided with a train in Upper Macungie Township, police said. Township police Lt. Peter Nickischer told lehighvalleylive.com the incident happened shortly before 4 p.m. along Ruppsville Road, between Chapmans Road and Tilghman Street. The train was part of the Norfolk Southern Rail Line, carrying cargo.

A Bethlehem man allegedly threatened to kill a woman, chased her outside with a rifle and then surrendered after a three-hour standoff with police, according to police. Jose Martin Lopez, 30, is charged with felony strangulation; misdemeanor simple assault; misdemeanor making terroristic threats; and summary harassment. Lopez was arraigned before District Judge John C. Capobianco, who set bail at $25,000. In lieu of bail, he was taken to Northampton County Prison, where he remained Friday morning.

A local Money Rules Everything gang member was sentenced to up to 60 years after stabbing and setting a man on fire while he was still alive outside a Bethlehem apartment complex. The sentencing comes after 28-year-old Yzire Jenkins-Rowe of Collegeville, Montgomery County on Monday pleaded guilty to felony murder; felony conspiracy to commit murder; and felony arson. Jenkins-Rowe was ordered to serve 27½ to 60 years in prison by a Northampton County Court of Common Pleas Judge Michael J.

An Allentown man, 44, was found guilty in the rape and sexual assault of a child. Taron Dortch was convicted on all 19 charges including felony rape; felony involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child; felony sex assault; felony aggravated indecent assault (less than 13 years old); felony corruption of minors; and felony child endangerment. Dortch on Wednesday was convicted by a jury following a three-day trial before Lehigh County Court of Common Pleas Judge Robert L. Steinberg.
