    CHINIOT: Bhowana police have booked seven suspects, including four police constables,for allegedly kidnapping a trader, threatening to kill his children and extorting Rs480,000 from him,As per the FIR registered under section 395 of the penal code lodged by Sajjad Hussain Ramana, he was at in his business place when a suspect, Bilal, along with uniformed police constables Fakhar Abbas Chadhar, Zeeshan Nasir, Ali Raza and Ali Sufian, armed with weapons, arrived there.

    KARACHI: A Pakistan Navy (PN) constable was shot at and wounded by robbers at Native Jetty Bridge late on Thursday night, police said on Friday. Docks SHO Nafeesur Rehman told Dawn that 27-year-old Asim Parvez, who was in a civilian dress, was intercepted by armed pillion riders at the bridge. The suspects demanded his cell phone but he threw the phone in the malkhana under the bridge and tried to escape.

    KARACHI: Amid surge in cases of waterborne diseases, the city administration has announced to set up 29 chlorination centres across the metropolis to improve quality of potable water being supplied by the Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation (KWSC). This was announced on Friday by Karachi Mayor Barrister Murtaza Wahab, who is also the chairman of the KWSC board.

    LAHORE: Justice Raheel Kamran of the Lahore High Court on Friday expressed displeasure over the failure of Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to submit its response to a petition seeking immediate implementation of Supreme Court’s verdict in the reserved seats case. Advocate Azhar Siddique, representing the petitioner, earlier informed the court that all relevant documents had been provided, yet the replies of the government as well as the ECP were being awaited.

    KURRAM: The death toll from tribal clashes has reached 46, with five more fatalities reported on Friday. The local elders and authorities continued with efforts to stop the violence that erupted over a land dispute on Sept 20 and has injured 91 people from both warring tribes. Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur had announced a ceasefire on Thursday, but it didn’t take effect.
