LAHORE: An anti-terrorism court indicted 31 PTI leaders and workers, including party’s Punjab president Dr Yasmin Rashid, Senator Ejaz Chaudhry, ex-governor Omar Sarfraz Cheema and ex-minister Mehmoodur Rashid, in another May 9 case, on Wednesday. The suspects were indicted for their alleged role in the burning of the PML-N office in Model Town.

LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf incarcerated founding chairman Imran Khan on Saturday approached the Lahore High Court (LHC) seeking post-arrest bail in eight cases of May 9 riots including an attack on the corps commander’s residence. Eight separate bail petitions have been filed before the LHC in as many cases through Barrister Salman Safdar. A two-judge bench comprising Chief Justice Aalia Neelum and Justice Asjad Javed Ghural will take up the petitions on Monday.

LAHORE/ISLAMABAD: Former foreign minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi and other PTI leaders and workers have been re-indicted in the Shadman police station attack following the addition of new accused by the prosecution. The hearing was conducted by Anti-Terrorism Court-1 (ATC) Judge Manzer Ali Gill at Kot Lakhpat jail. The judge framed charges against the accused persons afresh in light of the supplementary challan (charge sheet) filed by the prosecution. However, all accused pleaded not guilty.

LAHORE: Senior bar leader Senator Hamid Khan on Monday said the lawyers share a unanimous opinion against trials of civilians by military courts. Speaking at a press conference in the auditorium of the Lahore High Court Bar Association, he said that the sentences announced by the military courts in cases related to the May 9 events were unconstitutional. He pointed out that there was already a decision by a five-judge bench of the Supreme Court on this matter.
