We're saying farewell to News 8 sports director Pat Principe, who is retiring. He looked back at his 40 years at WGAL and picked his top five moments. No. 1 is Penn State football. In particular, he highlighted the 1995 Rose Bowl because that was the Nittany Lions' first Rose Bowl as a Big 10 member. It was notable for Ki-Jana Carter breaking an 80-yard run on the very first play of the game. Penn State was undefeated and finished the game undefeated.

The game was 9-3 at the half, and as the snow fell harder, the teams kept racking up the points. The Barons scored a touchdown to get ahead and kick the extra point.

HAVE BEEN THROUGH THE SPORTS DEPARTMENT HERE. CORRECT. RIGHT. WELL, THIS WEEK YOU’RE COUNTING DOWN WHAT YOUR TOP FIVE BIG SPORTS MOMENTS OR MEMORIES, WHICH IS KIND OF DIFFICULT WHEN YOU’VE BEEN AT THIS FOR 40 PLUS YEARS TO PICK JUST FIVE. BUT WE DID NARROW IT DOWN TO FIVE AND IN NO PARTICULAR ORDER. AND WE’RE GOING TO BEGIN TONIGHT WITH THE HERSHEY BEARS WINNING THE 2010 CALDER CUP. AND THIS WAS NOTABLE FOR SEVERAL REASONS.
