Jail board shares prison, probation reports

BROOKVILLE — Monthly reports were accepted at the April meeting of the Jefferson County Jail Board, held Tuesday morning. Prison reportThe Jefferson County Jail began the month of March with 93 inmates. At the end of the month there were 95 inmates, with five housed outside the county. Housed in the Jefferson County Jail were 67 men and 23 women. As of April 1, 29 prisoners have been sentenced and 66 are still awaiting trial or hearing.

BROOKVILLE – The Jefferson County Area Agency on Aging serves meals for dine-in Monday through Friday. Meals must be ordered one day in advance; the cost is $2.50. On April 13 at 11:30 a.m. police met and arrested the man with information provided by the 814 Pred Hunter team.
School board discusses moving Pinecreek students to Hickory Grove

Ben Hughes, a recent kidney donor, talked about his experience with the Exchange Program. “It is something I never thought I would do, something I never thought would affect me,” he said. “It is so much easier than I thought. PUNXSUTAWNEY PSPDUI/drugsAt 9:30 p.m. April 4, PSP Punxsy conducted a traffic stop in Punxsutawney. The driver, a 40-year-old man from Punxsutawney, was arrested for DUI/alcohol. State police in Punxsutawney said a 27-year-old man from Punxsy arrived at the Punxsutawney Area Hospital at 11:39 aa.m. March 13 with an unknown medical issue.
School board to decide on Pinecreek Elementary's future

BROOKVILLE — The Brookville Area School Board will be deciding on the future of Pinecreek Elementary School in the near future. At Monday night’s work session, Superintendent Erich May reported on costs and other factors involved in closing the school and moving students to Hickory Grove, with a new wing to be added to the school for the first and second-grades. “One of my goals this year was reporting on costs associated with closing Pinecreek and moving those students to Hickory Grove,” he said.
