    Gerald Hill said being hired as the superintendent for Eden Prairie Schools would be like a homecoming for him. Hill was the third and final superintendent candidate to be interviewed by the School Board on Thursday. He spoke with area residents and answered their questions during a community session prior to his interview with the board. Hill is the superintendent for Glenview School District 34, in Glenview, Ill. He has 16 years of superintendent experience.

    Fourteen Eden Prairie High School students were named 2015-2016 National Merit Finalists, according to the Eden Prairie School District’s website. The finalists are Abigail Bunn, Michelle Chang, Emily Corpuz, Sebastian Deibel, Talia Flores, Caroline Frischmon, Kenneth Han, Sarah Howe, Carolyn Jons, Neetij Krishnan, Mengdi Lou, Trevor Moore, Benjamin Stone and Claire Yang. “Out of the 15,000 National Merit Finalists, approximately 7,400 scholarship recipients will be chosen.

    MTS Minnesota Connections Academy eighth-graders Katharine Davis of Madelia and Abigail Thelen of Eden Prairie have advanced to the May 1 state competition for National History Day at the University of Minnesota. Three MTS Minnesota Connections Academy students participated in the 2016 South Central Regional History Day at Minnesota State University – Mankato on March 15. National History Day is an inter-disciplinary research project for students in grades 6-12.
