    INDIO, Calif. (KESQ) - A 23-year-old man was convicted of murder in the shooting death of a Cathedral City convenience store owner during a botched robbery. Charles Lamar Campbell of Beaumont, 23, was found guilty of murder, a special circumstance of killing in the course of a robbery, and a sentence-enhancing gun and great bodily charge. Testimony revealed he was the man who shot and killed Chris Sgouromitis, 61, of Cathedral City at the Outpost Market on the night of Feb. 21, 2021.

    REDLANDS, Calif. (KESQ) - An 83-year-old Banning woman was killed after crashing into a power pole in Redlands earlier this week, police announced. The crash was reported Wednesday shortly after 11 a.m. on Barton Road, west of Alabama Street. Redlands police said a 1990 Chevrolet 2500 pickup truck collided into a power pole. Another driver stopped and attempted to render aid to the driver but could not locate a pulse. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

    MECCA, California (KUNA) - Dos personas han muerto y otra ha sido trasladada en helicóptero al hospital tras un choque ocurrido el jueves por la tarde en La Meca. El accidente de dos vehículos fue reportado por primera vez justo después del mediodía en el área de SR-111, al sur de la Avenida 68. La Patrulla de Carreteras de California dijo que un Honda Civic azul que viajaba en dirección sur por la SR-111 se incorporó al carril en dirección norte para adelantar a un vehículo más lento.

    MECCA, Calif. (KESQ) - Two people are dead and another person was airlifted to the hospital after a crash Thursday afternoon in Mecca. The two-vehicle crash was first reported just after Noon in the area of SR-111, south of Avenue 68. The California Highway Patrol said a blue Honda Civic traveling southbound on SR-111 merged into the northbound lane to overtake a slower vehicle. The Honda then collided head on with a blue Acura TL.
