This year, Citizen celebrates the 30th anniversary of its The Citizen line. That may sound surprising, but it’s because the brand’s top-tier watches haven’t always been available globally. Little by little, though, we’re seeing more of these creations that often feature uncommon dial materials and highly accurate movements. Today, we’ll look at two limited global releases. The Citizen has always struck me as an intriguing name for a collection of watches.

Since its launch in 2023, the redesigned Louis Vuitton Tambour has led a watchmaking renaissance for a marque best known for its handbags and trunks. The iconic Parisian fashion house isn’t new to watches, but the focus on upscale pieces that compete with traditional watchmakers began in 2011 with the purchase of La Fabrique du Temps. While limited and dear, these latest creations cement a strong argument for Louis Vuitton’s place among the top brands.

The two-piece straps are made of rubber and have a two-tone design, a textile texture on the outside, a Moon-like surface texture on the inside, and a Velcro closure.

In 2021, Farer introduced its Field Collection. It consisted of three watches, all with the same compact stainless steel case but rather diverse yet colorful dial designs. The common denominator was that they were all inspired by field watches. Now the British-based brand has reintroduced its Field Collection. The Pembroke II, Lomond II, and Exmoor II all have a slimmer bezel and updated dial designs. Don’t worry, though — they’re just as colorful as before, as befits the Farer brand.

The Breguet Classique line — contrary to what its name suggests — always reminds me of Baroque music. I can hear Scarlatti when I see the coin-edge cases, welded lugs, swirly Breguet numerals, and guilloché or enameled dials. They exude the same regal, exalted, masterful feeling as Mikhail Pletnev interpreting Scarlatti on piano. Today’s release is a little bit different, though. This time, the Breguet Classique goes heavy metal — platinum, to be precise.

Let the record show that this introduction to the Patek Philippe Cubitus collection was written a day after the introduction. That’s important because these watches elicited strong emotions upon release and beforehand during online leaks. Therefore, I’ve let these watches sink in a bit before reacting. I’ll run down the specs and share brief thoughts before we return with a more extensive hands-on review.
