    JEFFERSON COUNTY, Ohio — The Jefferson County Commissioners have expressed their support for a violent crimes prevention grant being pursued by the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office for the Interagency Drug Task Force. Sheriff Fred Abdalla Jr. said the grant is expected to bring in more than $80,000 without any cost to the county. "We're excited to get the grant. It's a violent crimes grant, we're going to focus on trying to get guns off the streets," Abdalla said.

    WEIRTON, W.Va. — At WVU Medicine Weirton Medical Center on Monday morning, a plaque was presented honoring the late Aaron Davies and his family for contributions to the hospital. Davies was an athlete at Weir High who died after a battle with cancer at age 16 in 2005. Since then, his family has raised funds for WVU Medicine Weirton Medical Center and a host of other charities, families and people needing assistance in their cancer battles. This was done through a memorial fund in Aaron's name.

    WHEELING, W.Va. — Beau Catalano, a prominent figure in the Ohio Valley's culinary landscape, has been named the 2025 Italian American of the Year for the Undo's Upper Ohio Valley Italian Heritage Festival. Born in Brooklyn, New York, and raised in Ronkonkoma, Long Island, Catalano moved to the Ohio Valley in 1985, where he opened "Little Anthony's," a pizzeria in downtown Wheeling. It was there he met Nick Sparachane, a patron who would later become his business partner.
