Norris couldn't play due to a torn oblique

Buffalo, NY (WGR 550) - Before Josh Norris was acquired from the Ottawa Senators in March, he had torn his oblique muscle. He was able to play with it, and it felt OK, but it kept getting worse. In three games with Buffalo he had a goal and an assist, but it started getting worse,"It was a torn oblique, but I'm feeling good now," Norris said. "That happened originally and when I got here it just kept getting worse.

Captain Rasmus Dahlin was one of them and he feels there were too many games that were right there for them to win that they didn't which brought us to year 14 of the draught,"Overall, disappointed, the last 20 games we got better, but it hasn't been good enough, I'm sitting here this year again with no playoffs, it's not good enough.

Buffalo, NY (WGR 550) - It took five games, but the Buffalo Sabres got Lindy Ruff his 900th NHL coaching win beating the Philadelphia Flyers on the season's final night 5-4. Ruff hasn't wanted to talk about that or anything other than winning hockey games and learning how to play better, but with no more games left, he decided to comment after Thursday's game,"It's a number for sure, it just means I've coached a lot of hockey games.

Buffalo, NY (WGR 550) - The Buffalo Sabres will end their season on Thursday night for the 14th straight year without the playoffs. After four straight losses the team will have one final chance this season to get Lindy Ruff his 900th career NHL win. For a while it was looking like Tage Thompson would have a good shot at scoring 50 goals this season, but he has no goals and just one point in his last four games. Before that he had scored in five straight games netting eight goals.
Tuch is selected for the Rick Martin Memorial Award

Buffalo, NY (WGR 550) - The Rick Martin Memorial Award has been in existence for five years and ever since Kyle Okposo was the second player to win it in 2021-22, Alex Tuch has won it three seasons in a row. The fans voted for Tuch again in 2024-25. The "Rico Award" is given to the player who best demonstrates on-ice excellence, resiliency, and dedication to the community.
Luukkonen was superb, but Sabres show there's still much to be done.

Buffalo, NY (WGR 550) - The Buffalo Sabres played a very tight game on Tuesday against the Toronto Maple Leafs where the two goalies were the stars of the game, but they couldn't find a way to win it. The Leafs scored three goals in 3:04 including an empty netter by Auston Matthews for his 400 th NHL goal and a 4-0 win. The game's No. 1 star Toronto goalie Anthony Stolarz picked up his third shutout in four games and has only given up eight goals in seven games.

Buffalo, NY (WGR 550) - Alex Tuch is the Buffalo Sabres nominee for the King Clancy Memorial Trophy given to the player who best exemplifies leadership qualities and off ice has made a noteworthy humanitarian contribution in his community. Former Sabres Ryan O'Reilly is the Nashville Predators nominee and Jack Eichel is the Vegas Golden Knights nominee. Rob Ray is the only Buffalo Sabre to win the award back in 1999. Jason Zucker won with the Minnesota Wild back in 2019.

(WGR 550) - The Buffalo Sabres final road trip of the season was nothing to be proud of as they went 0-2-1 and looked nothing like the team we've seen the past few months. Lindy Ruff talks about this season giving out Christmas gifts, at times and in the last 40 minutes of the 7-4 loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning on Sunday, the gifts were as generous as you possibly could be. In the first period for probably about 15 minutes, Buffalo was the better team.

(WGR 550) - The Buffalo Sabres have all sorts of problems against Vitek Vanecek and Saturday's 3-2 shootout loss to the Florida Panthers was no different. Vanecek is now 12-2-1 against Buffalo making 26 saves and frustrating the Sabres throughout. Yes, it's embarrassing to lose to a team that had their top four scorers, top defenseman and top goaltender out for various reasons, but Vanecek, who came in with a record of 1-3-1 as a Panther did it again.
Sabres stay on the road to play Florida on Saturday

(WGR 550) - The Buffalo Sabres will not face many of the Florida Panthers on Saturday as they have injuries, suspensions and players resting. Not in Florida's lineup are Aleksander Barkov, Matthew Tkachuk, Sam Reinhart, Aaron Ekblad, Sergei Bobrovsky and Sam Bennett. Buffalo is coming off a 3-2 loss in Columbus, but have won 5-of-6 games and 8-of-10. James Reimer has won seven of his last eight starts. Alex Tuch had his seven-game point streak stopped too.
