A former Republican state senator defeated a Democratic veteran who once walked across the country during a race for Dutchess County Executive Tuesday. Sue Serino, who served as a state senator for eight years, defeated Tommy Zuhellen, a U.S. Navy veteran, 38,666 to 29,596.

A longtime Republican Dutchess Family Court judge won another term in Tuesday after defeating a former union president representing lawyers at the New York City Legal Aid Society. Judge Joseph A. Egitio defeated James Rogers, a Democrat, 33,777 to 32,922.
