Around three in ten charities continue to be impacted by cyber attacks and breaches, according to UK government figures published in 2025. Its Cyber Security Breaches Survey of charities and firms found that 30% of charities were affected over the previous 12 months, when questioned between August and December 2024. This is equivalent to 61,000 charities being impacted. While marginally down on the 32% of charities impacted when surveyed in 2024 the proportion remains similarly high.

Getting Gift Aid on small donationsThe government appears to recognise that it is not practical to get a Gift Aid declaration when people make small cash donations, or when they make quick contactless donations. The good news is that your charity may be able to claim up to £8000 per tax year in Gift Aid from cash donations of £30 or less, or contactless card donations of £30 or less, through a special scheme called the Gift Aid Small Donations Scheme (GASDS).
