A man died in Northwest D.C. Wednesday when an SUV driver intentionally ran over him so two accomplices could steal the cash the victim had just withdrawn from an ATM, two law enforcement sources familiar with the investigation told News4. The man was walking about 4:15 a.m. along U Street NW and crossing the intersection of 12th Street, when a white SUV came barreling toward him as it turned right onto 12th Street, sources said. Video obtained by News4 shows the moments leading up to the crash.

Two people are dead after coming into contact with a power line while working on a roof in Camp Springs, Maryland, on Tuesday morning. The tragedy happened at First Baptist Church of Camp Springs on Allentown Road, near Joint Base Andrews, just before 10 a.m., the Prince George's County Fire Department said. The two people were contractors for Arocon Roofing and Construction, another employee of the company confirmed to News4.

The owner of an illegal rooming house in D.C. was sentenced to nearly 36 years in prison on Friday for creating what a judge called a "death trap" that killed a 10-year-old boy and a man when a fire broke out in 2019. On an emotional day in court, Judge Todd Edelman handed down what he called a death sentence to James Walker. He told him he often sentences young people but knows the length of the sentence he imposed to Walker will likely confine him for the rest of his life.
