One man is dead following a shooting Wednesday that happened during a funeral service at Oakwood Cemetery in Richmond's East End. Richmond police said officers were called at 2:41 p.m. to the 3100 block of Nine Mile Road for a report of a person shot. Officers arrived to find a man on the ground with an apparent gunshot wound. The victim was transported to a local hospital, where he succumb to his injuries. Detectives said the shooting was the result of an altercation during a funeral.

Police said Tuesday that the body of a missing Henrico County woman was found in the James River last month. Richmond police said the medical examiner and Chesterfield police identified the woman as Mareesa Jones, 59, of Henrico. Jones had been reported missing after her vehicle was found abandoned on the Lee Bridge on Feb. 8. A witness reported seeing a woman standing near the railing of the bridge that night.

The Richmond Fire Department's water rescue team pulled a man's body from the James River early Saturday near the Mayo Bridge. In a news release, Richmond police said officers were called at 8:44 a.m. to assist firefighters with the recovery of an unresponsive man in the river. The man was pronounced dead at the scene. Police said there is no indication of foul play, and the medical examiner will determine the cause and manner of the man's death.
