Iconic Greek clarinet virtuoso Petros-Loukas Chalkias, renowned to fans of Greek folk music worldwide, died on Sunday at the age of 90. Born into a family of folk musicians in Epirus, northwestern Greece, in 1934, he first performed in public at the age of 11 before moving to Athens, where he played music alongside his clarinet-playing father and violin-playing brother.

A private helicopter hired to fly a small group of foreign passengers to Mykonos crashed on Sunday in the sea area off Vouliagmeni beach in the southern suburbs of Athens. The incident took place shortly after take off and before the eyes of dozens of beachgoers, under as-yet-unclear circumstances. The five people on board -the helicopter pilot and four tourists- managed to reach the shore safely and were reported lightly injured as they received first aid.

At least ten more people died and two hundred were injured in Israel overnight during Iran’s missile attacks on residential areas in the central and northern parts of the country. Meanwhile, Israel continued to hit strategic targets on Iranian territory on Saturday, and on Sunday issued a warning to residents of Iran living near nuclear reactors, urging them to evacuate. Yemen’s Houthis said they also fired missiles against Israel during the night.
