Ridley Township is the latest municipality to declare a disaster emergency over the loss of paramedic service and hospitals, with the closing of Crozer Health. The disaster emergency became effective 8 a.m. Wednesday. Officials said the closure of Crozer Health will mean diminished EMS capacity, longer response time for medical emergencies and the loss of treatment options for residents.

The final day that Crozer EMS will be on the street is fluid. The final day will be coordinated with Delaware County and its health department. There is no firm date at the moment, said Lori Bookbinder, manager of Communications and Media Relations at Crozer Health, said Tuesday. As that day approaches, communities are scrambling to find coverage for their residents. Crozer Health provides more than half of emergency medical services in Delaware County.

Share A 17-year-old Brookhaven girl is dead and a 19-year-old Media man is in critical condition after a crash in Chadds Ford Township early Easter morning. In an information release, Pennsylvania State police said Troopers responded to Baltimore Pike and Wilmington West Chester Pike about 3:37 a.m. for a one-vehicle crash into a telephone pole. Troopers located the involved vehicle, a black BMW sedan, on its roof adjacent to the northbound lanes of Baltimore Pike.

A Chester man was arrested by a U.S. Marshals task force in a shooting. Barry Ricks, 30, was wanted for his alleged involvement in a Nov. 16 shooting in the 300 block of East 12th Street near the Madison Grill. He was taken into custody by the Marshals Violent Crimes Fugitive Task Force on Thursday at 7:15 a.m. in the 400 block of Bickley Place in Chester.
