Drivers should expect "minor" delays on I-95 north by the Biden Welcome Center beginning May 12 due to a lane closure for repair work. The Delaware Department of Transportation will close the right lane of the interstate as crews replace the northbound high mast lighting structure, the agency said. The closure will run through August from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily. The toll booth won't be affected, DelDOT said.

A young man was killed, and a 9-year-old girl and a 19-year-old woman were injured in a Wilmington shooting on the evening of May 8. Police were called to the 800 block of E. 22nd St. about 6:45 p.m. for reports of the shooting. There, they found a 21-year-old man critically hurt and the two others injured, Wilmington police said. The man was rushed to a local hospital, where he died. The girl and the young woman were listed as "stable," police said.

A man charged with sexual assault at the Quality Inn motel near Stanton last month had first solicited the girl for sex and then assaulted her when she declined, court documents reveal. The assault occurred on April 23 in a motel stairwell, the documents say. Ashwani Kumar, 69, was charged with sexual solicitation of a child, unlawful sexual contact, unlawful imprisonment and offensive touching. He's being held at Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $14,100 cash bail.

A federal judge in Rhode Island has temporarily blocked the Trump administration from enacting cuts that would slash funding to Delaware libraries and minority-owned businesses. Attorney General Kathy Jennings and a coalition of 20 other attorneys general filed a lawsuit in early April to stop the dismantling of seven federal agencies created by Congress.

Several Delaware civil rights organizations are calling for the town of Camden and its police department to withdraw from a recently adopted agreement with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, which allows local law enforcement agencies to enforce federal immigration laws. ICE records show the Camden Police Department signed onto the federal agency's 287(g) program on April 29. As of May 6, Camden was the only Delaware law enforcement agency to do so.
