Registration is now open for the Jackson Youth Soccer Camp, which will be held Monday through Wednesday, June 23-25 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. each evening at Alumni Stadium on the Jackson High School campus. The camp will be hosted by the Jackson High School soccer program. The camp is open to both boys and girls entering grades 1-6 and is open to all school districts. The cost is $45 per camper and includes a T-shirt. Checks should be made out to Support Our Soccer.

John Keith Campbell, age 60 of Jackson, Ohio passed away on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, at his residence. He was born on April 20, 1965, in Gallipolis, Ohio to the late Guy and Wanda Campbell. He is survived by his wife, Lynn Campbell; children: Miranda (William) Folmer, Marissa (Charlie) Woodruff, Junior Campbell, and Isaac Campbell; his grandchildren: Lincoln and River Folmer; his siblings: Bob (LuAnn) Campbell and Donna Childers; as well as several nieces and nephews.

A scary situation unfolded in rural Elk Township in Vinton County on Wednesday morning, June 11, that resulted in township residents as well as the Village of Zaleski residents having to evacuate for safety reasons. The evacuation orders were issued by the Vinton County Sheriff’s Office after Austin Powder’s Red Diamond Plant near Zaleski had a hazardous-materials incident.

The Vinton County Sheriff’s Office has issued information and an order in the aftermath of a chemical leak this morning at the Austin Power Plant in northern Vinton County. The plant has already been evacuated and the Sheriff’s Office is also directing all residents who live on State Route 677, also known as Powder Plant Road, between U.S. Route 50 and State Route 278 to evacuate immediately.
