“It’s the biggest thing for me,” the Rangers righthander said during a visit to Fenway Park last week. “The only goal now is for the team to win. The rest doesn’t matter, it’s just getting back to the Series.”deGrom took the loss in Game 2 of the 2015 Series, giving up four runs over five innings against the Royals. He was lined up to start Game 6 but the Mets were eliminated in Game 5. deGrom was a member of the 2023 Rangers but started only six games before undergoing Tommy John surgery.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Red Sox held the hottest team in baseball scoreless for 10 innings on Friday night. That wasn’t good enough. Freddy Fermin singed to center to drive in the winning run in the bottom of the 12th inning as the Royals beat the Sox, 2-1, before a crowd of 30,348 at Kauffman Stadium. Kansas City has won seven straight, 10 of 11 and 16 of their last 18. They are 16-5 at home. Fermin’s hit came off Sean Newcomb, the eighth Red Sox pitcher.

Henry was accompanied by Breslow and team president Sam Kennedy.

Alarms started going off at Fenway Park in the eighth inning on Tuesday night. That’s not a literary device; they really were. Figuratively, they’re also blaring after a 6-1 loss against the Texas Rangers. On a cold and rainy night, the Sox were held to only six hits and struck out 12 times as they lost their third game in a row. Lucas Giolito, whose first start of the season last week was promising, allowed six runs on 10 hits over 3⅔ innings.

Masataka Yoshida played in 11 games during spring training and had 35 plate appearances. But he was placed on the injured list on March 24 and has remained there since. That is not likely to change any time soon. Until he is ready to play the outfield, the Red Sox have no plans to add him to the roster. Yoshida has not played defense since April 11, 2024, and that was for one inning. He underwent surgery to repair a torn shoulder labrum on Oct. 3 and is still recovering.
