COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KOAA) — Paying rent can be a stretch for many people every month, especially for older adults who are on a fixed income. Volunteers of America (VOA) is stepping in to help them financially by providing a 125-unit affordable housing community, "Paloma Garden," for low-income people aged 62 and older. "This has been just wonderful," said Calvin Rybczynski, who's a new resident at Paloma Garden. But Rybczynski says getting into the new housing wasn't a smooth ride.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KOAA) — With running shoes and American flags, people in Colorado Springs got up early for a good cause Monday morning. Red Leg Brewing Company hosted the 7th Annual Angel Run. The event raises money to support children of fallen military members and first responders in our community. Despite the cold and rainy weather, more than 500 people came out for this year's 5k and 10k runs. Red Leg Brewing Company's founder says they raised $47,000 last year.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KOAA) — People who live near Centennial Boulevard and North 30th Street on the west side of Colorado Springs say they want to see a more permanent solution for reckless driving. A News5 viewer we spoke with last October contacted us again, saying that aggressive driving is getting worse there. "It can cause a lot of anxiety," said Jay Mullenix. Mullenix says loud noises over a backyard wall are still triggering PTSD for him.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KOAA) — The railroad crossing is east of I-25 on Fillmore Street between Nevada and Stone Avenues. The Federal Railroad Administration tells me more than 32,000 drivers go through that crossing daily. Last Monday, one of them collided with a train. The Colorado Springs Police Department says the driver was okay, but was cited for careless driving.

COAL CREEK, Colo. — Ranchers in Fremont County say they are nervous after seeing several dead cows. One ranch owner in Coal Creek contacted News5 for help to find out why her cows died suddenly. Watch her story below. Kerri Higgs, a local ranch owner, says running a ranch is no easy feat. She and her husband have been raising cows for 10 years. She says her cows are a part of her life. On May 8th, she lost 15 of her cows in one day.
