    The East Durham Irish Festival, one of the longest-running in the U.S., is celebrating its 48th year in 2025. And this year's Memorial Day weekend festival is lining up "non stop Irish performers" on four stages Saturday and Sunday May 24 and 25, and a Friday free festival kick off sing song session at 6 p.m.  Michael English, I Draw Slow, the Prodigals, Irish Lassies and over 20 bands and performers are the ingredients for a rousing Irish Music Experience, said a release from organizers.

By way of elaboration, the author added that Destlar, the Eternal Emperor of the title, is “as demented as Hitler, as paranoid as Stalin, as powerful as Saruman.

    Limerick 0-28; Waterford 0-22 They’re not quite the imperious Limerick of the last six years but after running out of gas last year, the green tank at least is full again and John Kiely is driving a better vehicle than what he had at his disposal this time last year.

    A couple things to mention this week.  First, I was over at the New York Irish Center in Long Island City last Friday to see Padraig Rynne, Tara Breen and Jim Murray at the as part of Don Meade’s “Blarney Star” concert series and it was incredible.  The music was truly outstanding, Rynne was brilliant, both on the concertina and as the group’s leader and Breen, who spent many years playing with the Chieftains, was absolutely superb – they made for a perfect melodic pairing.
