By Peter Metanchuk Stephens basketball got back in the win column in decisive fashion Monday, defeating Hannibal-LaGrange 104-36 in Hannibal. After a narrow 69-67 loss to Columbia College (14-0) on Saturday, the Stars responded in a big way, surging to a 36-14 lead over the Trojans (3-12) by the end of the first quarter. Their defense tightened even further in the second, allowing just four points.

Mizzou came out of the gates hot, scoring 34 points in the first quarter and led by 26 entering halftime. Sophomore Grace Slaughter scored 10 points in the first quarter alone, despite sitting for the last three minutes.

Missouri gymnastics standout Helen Hu will use her final year of eligibility to compete in the upcoming 2025 season, coach Shannon Welker announced Monday. The two-time NCAA All-American and three-time All-Southeastern Conference gymnast spent 2024 backpacking in European and Asian countries. "We are so honored to welcome back Helen as a member of our program," Welker said in a news release. "She is an exemplary student-athlete and a joy to be around.

The Jays scored four runs in the first innings, putting the Kewpies in a hole they couldn't climb out of. Mylee McMichael went 3-for-3 with an RBI, while Ava Hanson, Ella Perkins, Megan Schoeneberg and Dani Spratt each added one hit for Hickman.
